XINXING Base Mats are large ground protection mats designed for temporary access roads, equipment platforms and vehicle operating areas over mud, grass, sand, snow and other soft or sensitive surfaces.
Available in panel lengths of up to 5900 mm, these large-format mats cover more ground with fewer individual panels. This reduces the number of joints and connectors required when constructing long temporary roads or wide working areas.
Made from durable engineered polyethylene materials, Base Mats are reusable, moisture-resistant and easier to maintain than timber access mats. They are suitable for construction, utilities, oil and gas, renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
| Product Option | Typical Specification | Recommended Use |
|---|---|---|
| Large ground road mat | Up to 5900 × 2000 × 28 mm | Long temporary roads and broad access routes |
| Temporary ground mat | 4000 × 2000 mm | Construction roads and equipment platforms |
| Thick ground protection mat | 25–28 mm thickness | Repeated vehicle access over soft ground |
| Polyethylene trackway panel | Project-specific size | Temporary trackways and industrial sites |
| Large road access panel | 28 mm thickness | Heavy vehicle routes and working areas |
Exact weight, connector type and load capability depend on the selected panel dimensions and product configuration.
Large panels cover substantially more ground than standard portable mats. This makes them suitable for projects requiring long access routes, broad parking areas or equipment platforms.
Using fewer panels reduces the number of connection points across a roadway. This can simplify installation, routine inspection and removal after the project.
Temporary ground mats distribute vehicle loads over a wider surface, helping reduce deep rutting, soil displacement and vehicle bogging on soft ground.
The polyethylene material resists moisture, impact, abrasion and many common site contaminants. Unlike timber, it does not rot, splinter or become waterlogged.
The moulded surface pattern helps improve tyre grip on wet, muddy, sandy or snow-covered ground.
The panels can be removed, cleaned, inspected and redeployed, helping reduce the cost of temporary road construction and post-project ground restoration.
Create temporary access for trucks, excavators, loaders, cranes and other construction equipment while protecting prepared or unstable ground.
Build temporary roads, service vehicle routes and equipment staging areas around drilling, pipeline and maintenance projects.
Provide access for bucket trucks, cranes, cable installation equipment and maintenance vehicles across farmland, grass and remote terrain.
Support construction traffic, component delivery and maintenance access at wind farms, solar farms and power infrastructure projects.
Connect multiple panels to create equipment parking zones, material storage areas and temporary operating platforms.
Spread vehicle loads over a wider area to improve access across wet or low-bearing-capacity surfaces.
Extremely weak ground may also require geotextiles, drainage improvements or additional subgrade preparation.
| Comparison | Base Mats | Portable Ground Mats |
|---|---|---|
| Panel format | Large-format panels | Smaller individual mats |
| Main benefit | Broad coverage with fewer joints | Easy manual handling |
| Installation | Mechanical handling recommended | Often installed by hand |
| Best use | Long roads and large work areas | Short routes and local protection |
| Typical traffic | Trucks and construction equipment | Cars, vans and lighter equipment |
| Panel thickness | Commonly 25–28 mm | Multiple lighter thicknesses |
| Typical industries | Construction, energy and infrastructure | Events, landscaping and utilities |
Choose Base Mats when the project requires large-area coverage and repeated vehicle access. Choose Quick Mats when frequent manual movement and installation in confined areas are more important.
Inspect the planned route and remove sharp stones, metal and large debris.
Confirm that the ground provides continuous support beneath every panel.
Plan the roadway width, turning areas and equipment platforms.
Use suitable lifting equipment to unload and position the large panels.
Align adjacent panels and secure them with the specified connectors.
Conduct a controlled first vehicle pass and inspect for movement or settlement.
Recheck the roadway after heavy rain, repeated traffic or major changes in temperature.
Base Mats are ground-supported panels. They must not be used as structural bridges over trenches, ditches or unsupported openings.
The correct panel must be selected according to:
Vehicle or equipment type
Maximum gross weight
Axle load
Tyre or track dimensions
Ground-bearing capacity
Traffic frequency
Turning and braking movements
Required road length and width
Installation duration
Available lifting equipment
Total vehicle weight alone is not enough to determine safe mat performance. Ground condition and concentrated wheel, track or outrigger loads must also be considered.
XINXING has manufactured engineering plastic products since 1989 and offers a complete temporary ground protection system.
Our capabilities include moulding, extrusion, CNC machining, cutting, assembly and packaging. This integrated production system enables us to supply large panels with project-specific dimensions, thicknesses and connection arrangements.
Custom options may include:
Panel dimensions
Mat thickness
Surface pattern
Panel colour
Connection positions
Company logo
Private-label identification
Our engineering team can recommend a suitable Base Mat configuration according to your equipment, ground conditions and required access layout.
Available products include 4000 × 2000 mm panels and large mats measuring up to approximately 5900 × 2000 mm. Available dimensions depend on the selected product model.
Base Mat products are commonly available in thicknesses between 25 mm and 28 mm. Other specifications may be produced according to project requirements.
A 4000 × 2000 mm mat provides approximately 8 m² of nominal coverage. A 5900 × 2000 mm panel provides approximately 11.8 m² before allowing for joints or overlap.
Load capability depends on mat dimensions, thickness, material structure, axle load, tyre pressure and the bearing strength of the underlying ground.
Project information must be reviewed before a suitable model or load recommendation can be confirmed.
Yes. Mechanical handling is recommended for large panels. Forklifts, cranes, excavators or approved lifting equipment may be used according to the panel weight and site conditions.
Panels are secured through designated connector positions. Connector layouts may differ for straight roads, turning areas and broad working platforms.
Yes. Large ground protection mats are designed to improve access over soft and wet surfaces. Extremely weak ground may require geotextiles or additional preparation.
Steel tracks can create concentrated loads and may damage some surface patterns. Provide the equipment weight, track dimensions and operating method before use.
Yes. Dimensions, thickness, colour, logo and connector layout may be customised depending on technical feasibility and order quantity.
Yes. Polyethylene panels can be washed, inspected and reused across multiple projects when correctly installed and maintained.
